I attempted to question the myth of apple cultivation by exploring a tradition that, at first glance, appears idyllic. After a few context shots, I placed the few still free and native apple trees in the centre of the frame, covering them with the fabric symbol of intensive cultivation, which is gradually reaching the hitherto unspoilt areas of Alta Val di Non.
At the moment, the population of Alta Val di Non has resisted by referendum so that ‘i pradiei’ still remain free and community land.
